Looking for online EMDR therapy in Oregon can produce plenty of names and very little clarity. One therapist mentions training, another lists certification, and another advertises an intensive. You may still be wondering who can see you, what the first appointments involve and what the costs would be.

A useful search is about finding care that fits your concerns and circumstances. These questions can help you look beyond a directory description and prepare for a more informative conversation.

🧭 First, confirm where you can attend appointments

For telehealth, where you are physically located during a session matters. Living in Oregon does not automatically settle the rules for a session you attend while visiting another state.

The Oregon Board's teletherapy guidance explains that authorization can depend on the jurisdictions involved. Tell a prospective therapist where you expect to be, including travel plans, and ask how that affects appointments.

Mended Heart provides online psychotherapy for clients physically located in Oregon or California. The Laguna Beach address is an administrative mailing address. Therapy appointments take place through telehealth.

Check the professional license and ask about EMDR preparation

A therapist's professional license and EMDR training answer different questions. For an Oregon LMFT or LPC, the Oregon Board's license-verification page links to its official public search. Match the professional's name and license information rather than relying only on an advertisement.

Then ask about EMDR training, additional consultation and experience with concerns like yours. An EMDRIA certification is distinct from completion of basic EMDR training. A credential is useful information, but it does not replace a discussion about the therapist's approach or your clinical needs.

I am Jennifer Starlight Rojas, LMFT, licensed in Oregon as T2588 and California as 129992. My EMDRIA directory profile lists my EMDR credentials. You are welcome to ask how my work with complex trauma and dissociation informs assessment and pacing.

Ask what happens before memory processing

Online EMDR involves more than watching a moving object on a screen. A therapist needs to understand your history, present symptoms, goals, supports and readiness. Preparation and discussion of how you will manage distress are part of treatment.

Useful questions include:

  • How will you assess whether online EMDR fits my situation?

  • What preparation might we do before focusing on distressing memories?

  • How would you adapt care if I become overwhelmed or disconnected?

  • How will we decide whether the plan or pace needs to change?

For more detail, read EMDR preparation before memory processing. You do not need to choose a treatment method before you have had an assessment.

Make the telehealth setup part of the conversation

Online care can make appointments more practical when travel is difficult or you live far from a specialist. It still needs to fit your needs and environment.

Discuss whether you have a private place to speak, the device and connection you will use, and what will happen if the session disconnects. Ask how to signal that you need a pause and how the therapist plans for support needs during remote appointments.

If privacy at home is difficult, say so. You do not have to pretend the setup works in order to ask about care. The therapist can help you consider whether telehealth is appropriate and what alternatives or adjustments might be needed.

Discuss costs and appointment format before committing

Ask for the session fee, length, payment timing and cancellation terms. If you hope to use out-of-network insurance benefits, confirm details directly with your insurer. A provider's documentation does not guarantee reimbursement.

Mended Heart is a private-pay practice. The current fees page and insurance and payment information explain the available formats and financial arrangements. Limited reduced-fee openings can be discussed privately, subject to availability.

A longer appointment is not automatically better. If you are considering an intensive, ask how readiness, preparation and follow-up will be assessed. The comparison of EMDR intensives and weekly therapy offers questions to bring to that discussion.

Use the consultation to understand fit

You can ask about clinical approach, availability and practical concerns without promising to begin treatment. Notice whether explanations make sense to you and whether there is room for your questions.

I offer online care in English and Spanish for clients physically located in Oregon and California. Learn more about online EMDR at Mended Heart, or request a free 15-minute consultation through Sessions Health. Requests are reviewed and do not automatically confirm an appointment.
